President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik has been continuously insulting and threatening journalists which report criticaly about his work. We have selected a few examples of insults that Milorad Dodik has been saying to journalists during the 15 years. Until today, Milorad Dodik has not been held accountable for his behavior. The judiciary of Republika Srpska did not react on open, documented threats, and nor did the international officials stop their communication with a person that discriminates freedom of the media. Insults, threats and constantly trying to discredit the media have become a part of our everyday life.
Enactment of the law on the criminalization of defamation would only make it worse.
Research that was done by FES and BH journalists shows that 74 percent of Republika Srpska citizens that took a part in a survey think that it's justified to attack journalists.
